2026 RPC Mission Golf Tournament: Playing with Purpose
2026 RPC Mission Golf Tournament: Playing with Purpose
Written by Alice Turner, Mission Development Coordinator
A beautiful sunrise over Brookfield Country Club set the stage for this year’s RPC Mission Golf Tournament, where 108 golfers and a dedicated group of volunteers gathered for something bigger than a day on the course. From the first tee to the final putt, the tournament was designed around one idea: playing with purpose. Golfers grabbed their Passport to Par, took on challenges like Beat the Brewer and the driving range contest, tested their skills at Putt for a Purpose, and enjoyed plenty of friendly competition along the way. But behind every challenge, sponsorship and swing was a shared commitment to the mission work of RPC.
For longtime mission supporter and Platinum Sponsor George Register of Register Financial Associates, supporting RPC Missions is an expression of gratitude. “I have received many blessings and opportunities from God throughout my life and I am thankful for the opportunity to share them through mission outreach at Roswell Presbyterian Church,” he shared.
That spirit of generosity was reflected throughout the tournament. Sponsors and Fairway Friends invested in the event, volunteers gave their time and energy, and groups throughout RPC found their own ways to contribute. The Senior Pastor’s 7 a.m. Men’s Bible Study helped make Putt for a Purpose possible, while the Young Family Fellowship Group and Roswell Sunday Social Service Group also stepped in to help make the tournament a success.
As Lynn Keenum of the Senior Pastor’s 7 a.m. Men’s Bible Study reflected, “Our group continues to grow as we study God’s Word together, often spending months exploring a single book of the Bible. Through that fellowship, we’re reminded that all we have is a gift from God, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to put our faith into action by supporting RPC Missions.”
Behind the scenes, a dedicated golf committee continued looking for ways to raise the bar — creating an experience that was fun and memorable while never losing sight of why the tournament exists.
Peter Langham, Chair of the RPC Mission Outreach Council, captured that spirit of service: “What I love about this tournament is that everyone finds a way to contribute. Some play golf, some sponsor, some volunteer, and others simply ask, ‘How can I help?’ It's a wonderful reminder that we all have different gifts to offer, and when we bring them together in service to others, the impact is so much greater than anything we could accomplish alone.”
That impact came into even sharper focus after play, when our mission partners joined golfers for "Fore the Mission" trivia. Through a little friendly competition, players learned more about the breadth of work being done by our partners and how support from the tournament ultimately reaches individuals and families throughout our community and beyond. A day of golf begins to mean something very different when you can see the connection between playing a round at Brookfield and helping a neighbor find stability, giving a student an opportunity or providing support to someone facing a difficult season.
V&V Foods ~ Zaxby's Gold Sponsor David Rozier reflected on what makes the tournament special: “As a longtime player and sponsor, it’s been rewarding to see the RPC Mission Golf Tournament evolve into such a memorable experience for golfers. What really sets it apart is the opportunity to connect with the mission partners and better understand the impact of the work they do. It’s a great day of golf with a greater purpose, and that’s what makes me proud to support it and be part of it.”
And this year, that collective generosity carried the impact even farther than we had hoped. Together, our golfers, sponsors, Fairway Friends, volunteers, church groups and supporters helped the tournament exceed its fundraising goal, giving RPC Missions greater resources to invest in the important work of our mission partners. What began with an opening prayer and shotgun start to a scramble became something much bigger — a church community playing, giving and serving together with purpose.
Mark your calendars for Monday, September 13, 2027! Whether you play, sponsor, volunteer or support RPC Missions in another way, we'd love for you to join us for another great day of golf with a greater purpose.
