Deacon Class of 2029 (Elect)
Anne Moore
My family joined Roswell Presbyterian Church ten years ago. At the time, my main goal in choosing a church was simply to find a place where my two daughters could feel connected and grow in their faith. Little did I know the profound impact RPC would also have on my own life.
Over the years, I became involved in several areas of church life: volunteering with VBS and Oncore, attending the Wednesday morning Women’s Bible Study during the summers, and participating in Faith and Grace throughout the year. In 2019, I was invited to lead a Community Group, and six years later we are still faithfully studying God’s Word together.
In 2021, I was elected to the Elder Class of 2024, where I served on the Adult Studies and Discipleship Committee. I am honored to now be called again to serve in the inaugural class of Deacons, working with the Congregational Care Committee.
My husband, Jason, and I have two daughters, Madison (19) and Elizabeth (16). As a family, we enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Romans 8:28 has always been a source of hope for me during difficult times, reminding me that God is able to work all things together for good
Betsy Wade
I joined RPC in 2016 and was one of the founding members of the Singles Sunday School class, many of whom continue to be very active in the church. Prior to RPC, I was a member at Eastminster Presbyterian, Marietta serving twice on the Session and Trinity Presbyterian in St. Louis, MO serving as a Deacon.
My youth and early adult years were at Peachtree Presbyterian. I have had the adventure of moving four times and always went on the search to find a new church home almost immediately.
My spiritual life at RPC has been shaped and deepened by serving on Session in 2018, traveling with Dr. Lane Alderman and others to Israel, learning more about the Bible and living with faith through Disciple studies, Life Keys and Stephen Ministry training.
Currently I have the joy of participating in Prayers and Prayers Quilt Ministry, Wit and Wisdom, At Home Communion, Lay Parish Visitor, the Card Ministry and the J.O.Y. Sunday School. God walks with me; it is with the most sincere anticipation that I wish to continue to grow and to serve here at RPC.
Kelly Frommer
I have been a member of Roswell Presbyterian for most of my life. I was very active in the youth group and now enjoy maintaining many of the friendships formed there. On Sundays, I treasure seeing the parents of these friends who are still RPC members. In high school, I served as a youth elder and appreciated learning how the session worked.
My husband, Creighton, and I were married by the Rev. Cy Mallard in the North Georgia mountains after he retired from RPC. We have two children, Ryan (20) and Anna (18). My mom, Nancy Puckett, is a long-time RPC member, and I treasure the opportunity to attend church services and programs with her.
RPC and its ministries have grown in many great ways since I first began attending as a child. One such program is the Exceptional Children’s Shadow Program, which I enjoy co-leading with Jenny Huffman. Through this program, RPC pairs students with a ‘shadow’ for Sunday School during the school year, Vacation Bible School, and eXtreme Retreat. I serve as an usher two months a year and am an active member of Circle 6 and the Next Chapter Sunday School class. For the past two years, I have had the privilege of serving as a Confirmation Mentor. I have really enjoyed helping two remarkable young ladies explore their faith in their journey toward RPC membership.
I am very excited to be called to the first Deacon class to help support the Congregational Care Ministry. I look forward to serving members of RPC, who have given so much to my family and me for many years.
One of my favorite Bible verses is Psalm 25:4-5, which says, “Teach me your ways, O Lord, make them known to me. Teach me to live according to your truth, you are my God, who saves me. I will always trust in you.” Two of my favorite hymns that I regularly hum or sing to myself are “Amazing Grace” and “Holy, Holy, Holy. Lord God Almighty!”
Bill Wiley
Bill Wiley and his wife, Lisa, have been members of RPC since 2019. Bill's family has lived in the Roswell area for more than five generations. He enjoys walking, cycling, and acoustic guitar. He enjoys the challenge of making the Meeting Owl cameras work in unison for online participants at 7AM Tuesday Men's Bible Study.
What is a deacon?
In the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), there are three ordained offices: Teaching Elder, Ruling Elder, and Deacon. At Roswell Presbyterian Church, deacons focus on congregational care, serving members unable to attend worship due to illness, injury, or age. Their ministry includes At-Home Communion, personal visits, cards, and creating and sharing prayer quilts, shawls, and flowers.
Deacons are nominated, trained, elected, ordained, and installed for three-year terms, and ordination is a lifelong calling. Former elders can serve as deacons and vice versa, but not simultaneously.
