More Than We Can Imagine
A Holy Journey to Kenya with R.O.C.K. Bridge Ministries
Written by Rev. Carrie Weatherford, Senior Associate Pastor
Over the past two weeks, a team from Roswell Presbyterian Church had the incredible privilege of traveling to Kenya to visit our mission partners at R.O.C.K. Bridge Ministries. What we experienced was nothing short of holy—a beautiful collision of God’s faithfulness, human compassion, and hope that refuses to be quiet.
From the moment we arrived, we could sense the deep and meaningful impact R.O.C.K. Bridge is having in Nakuru. One of the most exciting updates was the addition of over 150 new primary and secondary students to their scholarship program. These are not just numbers—they are young lives being transformed through access to education, nutrition, emotional support, and spiritual care. The ripple effect touches not only these children, but their families, their schools, and their communities.
One of the most humbling moments of the trip came when we were invited into the home of one of the scholarship students. Their entire family of six lives in a single-room home. A double bed for the parents, a twin bed shared by the daughters, and a simple mat rolled out on the dirt floor each night for the two boys. And yet, in that modest space, we encountered profound dignity, deep gratitude, and God's presence. We prayed together, cried together, and gave thanks for the roof over their heads and the hope in their hearts both made possible by the love and provision extended through R.O.C.K. Bridge Ministries.
We visited three partner schools—Bethel, Heshima, and Kaptembwa—that have stepped up to help educate the influx of new students. It was an absolute joy to dance, laugh, talk, and pray with the students and staff. Their energy and gratitude were infectious and reminded us again that education is more than academics—it is the cultivation of future leaders.
Clean water is another cornerstone of R.O.C.K. Bridge’s mission. We had the opportunity to visit two boreholes (wells), including one newly constructed site where we gathered in prayer and dedication. These are not only sources of life-giving water but also symbols of God's provision and the church’s commitment to community wellness. We also saw one of the three mobile clean water trucks, a creative solution to reach more villages with safe water.
Another highlight was visiting the Tumaini Children’s Home, the PCEA Nursing School, and Daraja 360, three powerful expressions of what partnership can do. Together with R.O.C.K. Bridge, RPC has helped build structures of hope that offer long-term care, training, and opportunity to those who need it most.
A particularly exciting new initiative is LISH AI Labs, a partnership that is training college-aged students in artificial intelligence—a skillset that holds the potential to create lasting, generational change. These young adults are being equipped not just for jobs, but for a future where they can thrive and lead.
Our trip culminated in a special dinner with many of the beneficiaries, board members, and local partners of R.O.C.K. Bridge. We gathered at one of the new holiday homes—beautiful (soon-to-be) rental properties set on a hillside overlooking Lake Nakuru. When completed, these homes will generate sustainable income for the ministry. It was a night filled with stories, laughter, worship, and vision.
At the dinner, I had the honor of sharing a brief message. Here's an excerpt:
“It’s easy to count these as accomplishments—and they are—but more than that, they are a testimony to God's faithfulness, and to your perseverance. You have been the hands and feet of Jesus in ways both practical and powerful.
And yet, I believe God is still saying, ‘There is more.’
Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that our God is not limited. He is able to do ‘immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.’ That’s the kind of hope we cling to—not because of our strength, but because of His power at work within us.”
So what might that “more” look like?
Could 178 scholarships become 1,780, shaping not just students, but entire communities?
Could more villages be reached with clean water through new wells and trucks?
Could the message of Christ reach deeper into homes, schools, and public spaces?
Could these holiday homes provide lasting financial sustainability for the ministry?
We don’t know every detail of what’s ahead. But we do know this: when we are faithful with little, God entrusts us with more. And God is not done writing this story.
To every donor, prayer partner, team member, and friend of RPC and R.O.C.K. Bridge: thank you. You are co-laborers in a holy mission that stretches far beyond what our eyes can see. Your love is planting seeds of transformation. And we believe the harvest will be great.
Let us keep dreaming big dreams. Let us walk boldly in faith. Let us never forget—we serve a God who still does the miraculous.
With a grateful heart,
Carrie
