Scholarship Support provides one year of Christian education tuition and opportunity for a better future! Due to COVID-19, the school board decided there will not be boarding students in 2021. All RPC funds will go to support commuting students. If you have sponsored a boarding student in the past, please consider changing to a commuting student this year. Thank you for your understanding.

Pam Muñoz is our missionary in Guatemala who oversees the administration of RPC’s scholarship program. She carefully identifies each scholarship child, know the family’s circumstances, and provides updates throughout the year.

Chulmal School

Kindergarten - 9th Grade

Located outside the town of Chichicastenango, the rural Chilumal School serves children from kindergarten through 9th grade. RPC sponsors provided scholarships for Christian education of 56 students in 2019.

Previously, RPC mission teams and donors helped build a second floor and addressed critical safety needs by providing rails on the second floor and rooftop. Some of these children are the first in their families to attend school. Thanks to your support, many of them graduate, continue their education and find careers.

Chichicastenango School

Preschool - 9th Grade

Located in the town of Chichicastenango (“Chichi”), The Colegio Evangelico Methodista Utalan School serves over 200 students. RPC sponsored 17 students in 2019. Gifts from the scholarship fund were combined in 2018 with local funding to provide a much needed courtyard roof, creating a space for a chapel and school gatherings.

Quiché School

Preschool - 12th Grade

Founded in 1965, this Colegio Evangelico Methodista Utalan School is located in the historical town of Santa Cruz del Quiché in the highlands of Guatemala.

In 2019, the school served 1,800 local and boarding students from Pre-K to 12th grade. RPC sponsors provided Christian Gradeeducation for 68 local and 28 boarding students. Assistance from the scholarship fund, combined with local funding, also provides improvements. In, 2013, an elevated pedestrian bridge was constructed. Students can now avoid dangerous road where a child was previously hit by a vehicle. Between 2014 and today, RPC assisted with playground equipment, laptop computers, and classroom equipment.

Although progress has been made, over 35% of the residents in the District of Quiché are illiterate. Many families would not be able to afford education for their children without assistance. Your important gifts are appreciated!

Christ-centered outreach is rooted in the understanding that we are all broken, the materially and non-materially poor, and in need of being restored to relationship with God. From this mission perspective, we come alongside of at-risk people to affirm the gifts God has given and help empower them for what God has lovingly designed them to be. We are more about people than programs, development instead of dependence, and respectfully upholding the diversity of all people.

We follow Christ's call primarily through a mission focus on education because we believe empowering others through development and long-term relationships is vital to eradicating poverty. Still, we strive to be engaged with meeting housing and emergency relief needs.
