The Waiting Room
Sunday, December 24 - 4th Sunday of Advent and Christmas Eve

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. - Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
Waiting rooms have been a large part of Frank's and my life - both literally and emotionally - for the last year and a half. Many times I was in one room, and he was in an actual waiting room. The emotional waiting room was much the same for both of us - waiting on biopsies and results; MRIs and results; surgeries and results; infections to clear so that another surgery could be performed, and on and on.
While Frank and I were waiting, so were our families, friends, church family, my RPP family. The care, support, and prayers we received gave us strength, encouragement, and hope to continue as we sat in the "waiting rooms." "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Several translations use the word "wait" in place of "hope" in this verse. How appropriate!
There have been feelings of fear, anxiety, and frustration, but there have definitely been the stronger feelings of love, hope, and peace that God's presence has given throughout this time of waiting.
Dear God, thank you for the blessing of hope and the fulfillment of the promise of being with us even in the "waiting room." Amen.
