For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. - John 3:16
As I reflect on the season of Lent and my personal journey of faith, I am so grateful for Roswell Presbyterian Church. Mike and I came to Atlanta in 1973. Looking for a church home, we visited RPC and met the Rev. Cy Mallard. It was the beginning of a wonderful journey. I loved going to the old church and listening to him teach; he brought such joy and peace to my heart. He was and is such an inspiration, such a man of God. I am so grateful to have had Cy as my teacher and friend for 43 years. Memories of my children and grandchildren's baptisms, weddings, and all our many blessings over the years, will be cherished forever.
When Cy retired, I was so sad. I thought no one could ever take his place. Then came the Rev. Lane Alderman, I was blessed more than words could ever say to have had him as my minister for the next 20 years. I miss him so much. I thank God for having been touched by two of the greatest ministers of all time.
My favorite thing that Lane always said at the end of his sermon, "Always remember - God will be with you every step of the way." I know that to be true in my life. I pray that it will be true in the life of our church as we seek to find a new senior pastor.
Dear Lord, bless our church and its leaders as we continue to seek guidance for our future. Amen
