Journey to the Cross

And going a little farther, Jesus threw himself on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. He said, "Abba, *Father, for you all things are possible; remove this cup from me; yet, not what I want, but what you want." - Mark 14:35-36
How could I ever muster up enough courage to raise four children, under the age of 9 by myself? The answer, I couldn't! Not without the Holy Spirit guiding me and giving me courage every minute of every day!
As a single mother of three boys and a girl, I was on my knees most of the years I was raising my family. Three boys with learning problems and working outside the home for the first time - asking for courage to face each day was a daily prayer for me.
Why me? I did everything "right"... I went to church, centered my life and my home around Christ, and I was obedient to His word! I asked many times if God would heal my marriage and make my family whole again. But like Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, the answer was NO!
Trust, Obedience and Faith... knowing that Jesus relied on God as I did, I was always encouraged to know that the Son of God had been in "my shoes"... asking for the "cup to be removed", and having Faith and Courage when it wasn't removed.
What a Beautiful, Loving, and Just God we serve! In the depths of my pain and adversity, God's Will, not mine, be done!!
Precious Heavenly Father, Thank you for answering my prayer with your loving "No" as you did your Holy Son. My Faith in you and Strong Relationship with you is because of the growth that came from your infinitely wise answer to my prayer and your Holy Presence along the way. Amen
