Journey to the Cross
Saturday, February 13
Betty Dolson, member of RPC since 2013
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?" - John 11:25-26
Lent comes early in 2016 and during the sometimes gloomy days of February, we look forward to spring. When I see my favorite new bright green leaves in April, I am filled with warmth and thoughts that Jesus is alive.
I found this quote after starting this devotional and it says what I feel:
"Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime." (Martin Luther)
With the upcoming confirmation of two granddaughters in 2016, one at RPC and one at St. Anne, I am reminded of new life and the continuation of our faith in the next generation. I am reminded of my own confirmation as a child, my sweet Dad and his quiet strong faith, how out of the death of Jesus Christ, life continues.
I am so grateful that my son and daughter have a strong faith, are active in the churches where they are members, and are passing that faith on to their children. When we give ourselves to God, He doesn't let go.
Throughout his life, Jesus taught us how to live, love, forgive, and give ourselves to help others. It's not always easy, when we go through hard times, but God finds a way to show us that he is with us.
Dear God, Thank you so much for showing us that after Jesus died, He still lives, and I am so grateful that each generation can experience Christ's Love and his resurrection! Amen
