Journey to the Cross

The true children of God are those who let God's Spirit lead them. - Romans 8:14
I'm in awe of how Jesus came down from heavenly power to earthly poverty to care for the feeding, teaching, and healing of common people. Hours before his death, he washed the dirty feet of his followers and then died for my (our) sins. Jesus cares so deeply for our lives.
I'm a planner. I love planning for a family trip, researching and reviewing hotels, restaurants, and activities. I enjoy planning the menu and preparations for a friends and family gathering. I love making lists for my daily and monthly business activities and commitments. But more than planning, I really love checking off the items that I complete - that makes me happy.
In life, I want to be someone who is filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. But as much as I plan to be, I'm not. My plans miss the mark. I'm thankful for Christ's compassion, forgiveness, and His plan for me.
As we walk with Jesus to the cross this Lenten season, may we submit to Christ and let the Spirit guide us.
Lord, I need your help. I can't do it on my own. I want to be a person who lets others see the joy of Christ in my life in all that I do. I need you, Christ, to guide me. Amen
