I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. - Psalm 121:1-2
Psalm 121 was my mother's favorite passage in the Scriptures, and it certainly is one of my favorites as well. During this season of Lent, I am reminded again of this passage.
On our walk through Lent, the journey can be rough and tough as we focus on a more simple life, as we give up certain pleasures, and as we look inward and reflect on who we are. The demands, pressures, and temptations of our daily lives can certainly make staying on track a challenge. How comforting it is to know our help cometh from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
As a young girl, my grandmother often told me to walk with my head up, always looking forward, not at my feet. With my head up, it is easy to look to the hills and know my help is there. All I need to do is ask.
Dear God, help me to keep my head up, and may my journey through this season of Lent be smoother as you wrap your arms around me and guide me along the way. Amen
