Focus on God's Faithfulness
Thursday, March 15
Allie McCubrey, RPC member since her confirmation in 2004
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. - Isaiah 40:28 (NIV)
Jesus is consistent - steady, constant, solid as a rock. I am truly enamored with His consistency, because it is in complete contrast to the ways of the world. The world is inconsistent and so am I. I find myself focused on circumstances and emotions which can change unexpectedly and unpredictably. As people, we often look to others to provide the stability that only the Lord can provide us.
What does Jesus' consistency look like? For me, I know I can rely on His continual presence in my life. He loves me unconditionally and forgives me wholeheartedly. He is always in control despite the chaos that might surround me. I can look to Him for strength and comfort when my body is tired and my heart is aching. I can depend on Him to protect and guide me when I am making hard decisions or when I am struggling with grief or negativity or doubt.
When I think about Jesus, I am so overwhelmed by His consistency. I know how often I let my circumstances and emotions burden my daily life - maybe it was the weather or the traffic or a rude client at work. Maybe I'm tired or hungry or sad. I find it hard to be consistent, but when I look to Jesus, I can be grateful and humbled by His example. What a comfort it is to know He will never falter!
Thank you, Lord, that we can trust that you are consistent - that you are our solid rock, for now and forever. Amen.
