For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. - Romans 14:17

The magic of Christmas always starts on Christmas, not because of the tradition of opening one present before the morning, but rather because of the time I spend with my entire family at Christmas Eve dinner. All of us sitting around a table talking and laughing over homemade dinner. The house is filled with an abundance of love, so much it's almost tangible. It's amazing to think that despite our busy schedules, our whole family manages to come together for one night to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

The reason this tradition is so special to me isn't because of the stupendous food, but rather because of the cause for celebration. Knowing my entire family holds this season in their hearts really shows me the importance of the Christmas season. It provides a sense of fellowship like no other. I am so grateful to have such love and joy around me as I continue to grow in my faith.

We are all truly blessed to be a part of a church community that offers that irreplaceable sense of togetherness, not only during the Christmas season but throughout the year. Especially during Advent, I encourage you to take time to be thankful for the people the Lord has put in your life and for the love and support they give you.

Gracious Lord, as we continue to prepare for the birth of Christ, I pray we all are able to recognize the love in our daily lives and be able to spread that love to those around us. Amen
