And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. - 1 John 4:16
When I close my eyes and imagine the nativity scene, I can see a young couple with a brand new baby. I can see Mary, a new mother, holding her sweet baby Jesus, filled with a mixture of emotions. The greatest love she has ever known has now entered her life in a way she never knew existed. Despite the hardships she will face, and despite the wind she is fighting, she knows she holds the greatest gift in her arms. For she and Joseph are now parents to a King. As they look into the eyes of their new baby, they know their hearts are now whole. I can hear them praising God for showing His love through their Son.
As a brand new parent myself, I gaze into the eyes of my own baby girl and better understand God's everlasting love. I am beginning to grow in my own relationship with God because I am learning just how much He loves each of His own children. Jesus' love and devotion for His people is so deep and so strong that nothing we could ever do could make Him love us any less. I am so thankful that we can live with the assurance and peace that our own Creator will forever engulf us in this love, not only at Christmas, but forever and ever. I hope and pray that we will continue to share this love with others even when we are faced with our own trials and tribulations. We can sit back and remember this cold nativity scene, these two new parents, and their precious baby Son, and remember that God's love never ever fails. Love always wins.
Dear God, thank you for showing us Your love through the birth of Jesus, and teach us how to grow in our love with You and with others now and forevermore. Amen
