30-Day Prayer Devotional for RPC - Day 5

Day 5

You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. - Deuteronomy 6:5 (NRSV)

Dear God,

Our pastors and staff have so many responsibilities in their lives, we know they must feel pulled in so many directions. Help them always to first focus on you. We pray that they would first love you with all their hearts, with all their souls, and with all their might, and that that love would spill out and pour over to all of their other relationships. Lord, we pray for their marriages, that they would be strengthened in you. We pray that our pastors and staff would be kind and loving parents, demonstrating your love always and bringing up their children in the discipline of the LORD. And we pray that in all of their relationships, our pastors and staff would demonstrate patience, grace, and wisdom. Let all who know and love them be overwhelmed by a sense of your grace and a sense of your patience.

We pray also for the PNC, Lord. As they go through this intense time of discernment for the benefit of our church that they would not suffer in their relationships. Lord we know that it is so easy when we are under stress or have a tremendous project to be distracted from those who matter most. Lord, we pray that our PNC would first not be distracted from you, but that they too would be focused whole-heartedly and whole-mindedly on you, and that they would also pour that love out to those around them. Strengthen their relationships with their families, especially with their spouses and their children, and bless them with time and energy to give to those whom they love.

We pray this all to you, AMEN.
