Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. - Ephesians 4:1-4
We pray that you would remind us every day that we have been called by you. In a fallen world it is so easy to get caught up in the chaos, the pettiness, the despair. But we pray that we would not. We pray especially for our Pastors and Staff, God, that as they lead Roswell Presbyterian Church they would always be mindful of their calling. Help them to lead lives worthy of it. Lord, make them instruments of your peace in the office, in Roswell, and in the world around us. Fill them with patience for those around them and help them to constantly demonstrate your love in the world. Where there is fear, help them to supply your assurance. Where there is sadness, may they usher in your joy. We pray that our Pastors and Staff would always be ambassadors of your glorious hope.
We pray for the members of our PNC, that their lives would exemplify your calling of them also. Give them a humbleness and a gentleness as they set about their work to secure the new Senior Pastor of RPC, and let them show patience to one another and to the congregation as announcements are made, votes are taken, and contracts are secured. Lord, unite the members of our congregation; bind our hearts to you. Secure us in our love for one another. May we be true and miraculous examples of the humbleness and gentleness of your spirit. We pray for the Nominee who will be set before us this week, Lord. Give that person clarity of their call. Grant him or her peace about their decision and fill them with joy about their future with this church.
We pray all of these things in your Holy Name, AMEN.
** We will continue the Prayer Devotional for RPC through Sunday, November 20, specifically in light of the exciting news that the PNC has unanimously approved a candidate for nomination as RPC's next Senior Pastor and the Congregational Meeting will be Sunday, November 20 immediately following the 11:15 a.m. worship service.
We follow the next week with some Give Thanks! devotions and then we will start Advent with our scratch-off Advent 2016 Calendar.
