30-Day Prayer Devotional for RPC - Day 13

Day 13

An elder must live a blameless life. He must be faithful to his wife and his children must be believers who don't have a reputation for being wild or rebellious. A church leader is a manager of God's household, so he must live a blameless life. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered; he must not be a heavy drinker, violent, or dishonest with money. Rather, he must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must love what is good. He must live wisely and be just. He must live a devout and disciplined life. He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show those who oppose it where they are wrong. - Titus 1:6-9

Dear God,

We are so grateful that our Pastors and Staff have been called by you to their places at RPC. Being Christians in the world often subjects us to scrutiny, but we know our Pastors, Staff, and Elders are subject to even more. Paul's description of how a church leader should be and live reminds us of the difficult call our Pastors and Staff must live up to. We pray for each of them as they seek to lead a blameless life. We pray that they would each live wisely and fair, with a devout and disciplined life. Give them each the conviction of your word and the gift to encourage others with it. Give our Pastors and Staff an ability to teach that reflects you in a way so that when others hear it, they are led to you. Most of all Lord, we pray that our Pastors and Staff would feel your love for them every day and that they would be encouraged and strengthened by it in all that they do.

Our PNC members are also the elders and leaders of this church, and as such, they too are called to lead a blameless life. Lord, we pray too, that each member would live wisely and fair and with a devout and disciplined life. Grant them that their devotion to you and the discipline by which they live would provide them with adequate time and resources to devote themselves to the work of your kingdom. Remind them that they serve as managers of your household and that their duty to you is first and always. We pray, Lord, that as the members of the PNC devote themselves first to your household, that their own households would be strengthened and nurtured, reflecting your love as a light to the world.

We ask all of these things in your precious Son's name, AMEN.
