Memorial Day Weekend is the time that our nation remembers the men and women in uniform who died serving this country. The first observances began immediately after the Civil War and it is Lincoln's words at Gettysburg that call us to honor those who "gave the last full measure of devotion."
All of us have the power within us to make a difference in our families, our church, our communities and our world. At times a sacrifice is necessary for freedom, justice, family, neighbors, grace and peace. You and I are here today and each Sunday because of the greatest sacrifice of all - the one Jesus Christ, our Good Shepherd, made willingly that we might know life and live abundantly.
Let's enjoy the holiday and remember.
