Lent 2017: Sinners to Saints: Becoming Who God Sees: Your Deepest Identity - Sunday, March 26, 2017 - Rev. Jeff J. Meyers

*This is the complete 11:15 a.m. service from Sunday, March 26, 2017.

Today we welcome our confirmands and new members to take ownership of their faith by becoming full members of Roswell Presbyterian Church. Some will do this through baptism and others through their affirmation of faith. This is a big day in each person's life that shouldn't be taken lightly!

As they take on new identities as members of RPC, it is a good reminder for each of us about where we should find our true identity. Over the years, friends, the culture, and life's circumstances will try to tell us who they think we are. And while their perspectives may be valid up to a point, we know that only God tells us who we really are at our deepest level.

In this morning's passage, we will look at the story of Naomi in the book of Ruth to see how in a time of deep distress she relied not on what her circumstances and surroundings said about her, but she trusted in what God said about her. Through Naomi's experience we will see the difference it can make in trusting God for our deepest identity.

Grace and peace,
Rev. Jeff J. Meyers
