Lent 2017: Sinners to Saints: Becoming Who God Sees: Too Old to Change? - Sunday, March 12, 2017 - Rev. Jeff J. Meyers

*This is the complete 11:15 a.m. service from Sunday, March 12, 2017, including the Congregational Meeting to Review the Terms of Call for Clergy.

Last week, we began our Lenten sermon series Sinners to Saints by looking at the story of God changing Abram's name to Abraham. Today we will look at the corresponding name change of Abraham's wife, Sarai to Sarah. While Abraham's new name meant he had to alter his expectations about the future, Sarah's name change means that at the age of 90 she was about to have a baby!

These events marked a surprising and significant transformation for Sarah and what she assumed her life was about. Right when she thought she was entering her sunset years, God opened a new vista to her. Today we will look at how Sarai's story can open our eyes to the ways God wants to use us -- even when we think we might be unusable.

Grace and peace,
Rev. Jeff J. Meyers
