Advent is a time of preparation. It is a time when we remember the countless prayers we have offered. It is a time when we remember all the times we have looked to God for answers. It is a time when we remind ourselves that our only hope in life and in death is the promise of grace. Grace is a gift that we need, and it is a gift freely given, so let us spend this Advent season preparing to receive that precious gift.
Today we will focus on hope. Hope is a light in dark times. Hope is what keeps us going when we have lost everything else. Hope can look like insanity to others who have long since given up. Hope is our lifeline when we are drowning in despair. When we have every reason to give up, Christians remain hopeful in one thing: God will keep God's promise.
Let us worship with hope today.
