Lent 2017

Holy Week 2017 at Roswell Presbyterian Church
Palm Sunday, April 9 to Easter Sunday, April 16

In this Lenten sermon series, Sinners to Saints: Becoming Who God Sees, we will look at seven characters who have had their names changed in Holy Scripture. The name changes mean more than they need a new nametag - they point to a shift from one identity to the next.

Since Lent is a season of repentance which means, to turn and go the other way, we will look at how each character teaches us to repent and grow into the people who God calls us to be. This transformation occurs on the journey from being a sinner to becoming the person God sees in Christ, that is, a saint.

You can sign-up to receive information and updates about Lent 2017 at RPC as well as the daily devotionals.

Lenten Devotional 2017

The purpose of the season of Lent is for a follower of Christ to intentionally take time to reflect on Jesus' life and journey to the cross, and eventually his death.

This Lenten devotional is a tool to help people reflect on this journey. The theme for this year's devotional is Shaped by God.

Church members and staff of all ages have offered to us part of their faith story where they feel God has shaped them. Each of these stories demonstrates incredible vulnerability, honesty, and faith.

Additionally, you will find some days where you are encouraged to read Scripture and reflect. This comes from our Lectionary which divides the Bible into reading segments over a course of three years.

Daily devotionals will also be posted to the RPC Facebook page and the Roswell Pres blog. You can also download a copy or pickup a copy at the Church Office or from the Welcome Center on Sundays.

Our prayer is for these stories to speak to your own stories, challenging and encouraging us as a people of faith to see how we have been shaped by God.
