Join Wit & Wisdom's continuing series "Exploring Other Faiths," as we visit Drepung Loseling Monastery in Atlanta.
North American headquarters for the international movement, the monastery provides knowledge and practical training in Tibetan Buddhist traditions for Westerners. It also helps preserve the endangered Tibetan culture.
Visitors will be introduced to Tibetan Buddhism by one of the monastery's monks. They will also learn about Tibet's cultural traditions in an exhibit depicting day-to-day activities through carved and costumed figures from all its provinces. The monastery has been visited by the Dalai Lama during his stays at Emory University. It is part of the Emory-Tibet Science Initiative.
Lunch follows at nearby Himalayan Spice Restaurant, featuring a Nepalese/Indian buffet.
Registration is full.
