Welcome to Worship

Worship at Roswell Presbyterian Church

Christian worship joyfully ascribes all praise and honor, glory and power to the triune God.  In worship the faithful offer themselves to God and are equipped for God's service in the world.

Historic Sanctuary-8:15 a.m.
 Worship Service

This distinctive building sits in the center of our property, facing Mimosa Boulevard.
The Music of Preparation begins at 8:10 am and helps worshippers focus on the worship service that is about to begin. At 8:15 the Call to Worship announces that worship is starting. This service runs from 8:15 - 9:15 am, and includes preaching, prayers, an offering, and hymns.
This building was constructed in 1839, when the congregation had 15 members who dreamed of a growing ministry.  Plaques in the Historic Sanctuary provide a glimpse of RPC history and of the "cloud of witnesses" who have preceded us.
Childcare is available on the first floor of the Sanctuary Building.

Sanctuary Building-9:45 a.m.
 Worship Service

Located on the north side of our campus, with a towering steeple visible from Highway #9, our Sanctuary dates from 2000 and also faces Mimosa Blvd.
The Music of Preparation (from 9:40 - 9:45 am) invites worshippers to focus their thoughts and prayers, leaving behind the concerns of the morning and the week. At 9:45 worship begins with the Call to Worship.  This service runs from 9:45 - 10:45 am, and includes preaching, prayers, an offering, hymn singing, and an anthem sung by a choir ensemble.  Baptisms are a frequent part of this service as well. The RPC Orchestra/Brass Ensemble and the Carillon Choir share in worship leadership monthly at the 9:45 service.
Childcare is available on the first floor of the Sanctuary Building.

Sanctuary Building-11:15 a.m.
Worship Service

Built in 2000, the Sanctuary seats 850 people with a front door which faces Mimosa Blvd. Among the additional entrances is the "tower door" under the steeple, which provides an accessible handicapped entrance as well as access to an elevator.

The Music of Preparation begins at 11:05 and offers music to prepare hearts for worship. At 11:15 the Call to Worship announces the service. This service runs from 11:15 - 12:15 pm, and includes preaching, prayers, an offering, hymn singing, and an anthem sung by our Chancel Choir. Special events in the life of the church are offered at this service; for example, presentation of third grade Bibles; commissioning of mission teams, new officers for various ministries; celebration of music ministry. Our publication Current Worship Calendar lists these events.  Baptisms are frequent at this service.  Not only does our RPC Orchestra/Brass Ensemble, and Carillon Choir participate in this service, but our 3 children's choirs sing frequently.
Childcare is available on the first floor of the Sanctuary Building.

Communion

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper is celebrated monthly at RPC, usually the first Sunday of each month.  Our "regular style" of serving means that worshippers remain seated and elders bring the elements to pass in the pews.
Several times a year, we serve using the ancient method of intinction. This style involves worshippers coming forward to one of several stations where elders and clergy offer bread and the cup. Worshippers break off a piece of the bread, dip it into the cup, and partake. Elders direct people when to come forward and return to their seats.
The Lord's Supper is also celebrated at our Ash Wednesday service, as well on Maundy Thursday during Holy Week.
The table at RPC is an open table..open to all who claim Jesus as Lord.
